Happy Mother's Day!

The week leading up to Mother's Day was a wonderful one! Below are a couple of cute photos of the kids during a little photo shoot that I had with them earlier in the week. The Johnson Family, Andy and Erin, gave Sarah Kate this adorable outfit and I just had to get a picture of her in it!

She was sleeping, but she sort of smiled on camera! Yeah! Her "real" smile is so adorable and she opens her mouth really wide. Some day soon I'll get that on camera!

On Thursday, Nicholas' class went on a field trip to the Oakland Fire Station. I was able to attend as a parent volunteer! It was so much fun!!! The kids went into the fire truck six at a time and learned about it. Nicholas is in it in this photo, however he chose a seat that was hard to get on camera.

Another highlight of the week was that Nicholas and I went to library story hour on Wednesday and we had a great time. The local newspaper photographer came and Nicholas had his photo in the paper on Friday. It was only half of his head from the side but his name was there and spelled correctly! He thought it was very neat that he was in the paper. Me too!

Lastly, today I had a wonderful Mother's Day! How could I not!! When I went into Nicholas' room this morning to get him he quickly grabbed a card for me that he had hidden in his bed the night before. He was so excited to give it to me. I can't even tell you how cute it was and how moved I was. We opened it together and he read it to me. Then I headed downstairs to find a couple more cards and gifts on the table waiting for me. Nicholas loved helping me open them. Now, first let me tell you that if you ask Nicholas were he is going to college he will say "Brown." I taught him this as a joke about a month ago. When someone asks "Why Brown?" We simply say because it is Ivy league and close to mommy! Well, today one of my gifts was a Brown University t-shirt for Nicholas and a Brown Mom hat for me! How funny is that! Scott is good!

I loved those gifts, but the best gift of all was a brick! Here it is...

Of course you are probably wondering why a brick? Well, I'll tell you! There is a special Garden of Hope being built this year at Boston City Hall. The garden is a fundraising project to help find a cure for cancer. Today Scott gave me a brick to symbolize the brick that we would purchase together to honor my mom. We went right on the computer and made our donation! It will read "In Memory of Janice Sullivan Your Grandchildren, Nicholas & Sarah Kate" It meant so much to support this cause and honor my mom in this way. I look forward to taking a trip into Boston with the kids later this year and finding our brick in the Garden of Hope!

Back to my day...
After ordering our brick we all headed to Nicholas' swim lesson at the YMCA! Week one he went in the water once, week two he went in three times, and week three he went in five times! He didn't cry at all today...things are looking up in the swim world! All but one of the kids in his class are a couple of years older and sometimes he gets nervous that he will have to do what they are doing. We were so proud of him for going in and trying as much as he did today! We rewarded him with a few minutes in the kid pool after class.

After the YMCA we went to Dunkin Donuts, then church, ordered pizza for lunch, took a long nap, then it was play time all night long! Is that a perfect day or what? Scott even went to the grocery store for me too! I have the best kids and the best husband! I am so blessed!!

I'm going to end the post with a few cute photos of Sarah Kate! At church she was making sounds so I took her to the nursery room. I decided to see how she would like this special seat but didn't think she was big enough to be in it for more than a minute or two. Well, because of the way it held her head in the back, she was able to stay in it for awhile and absolutely loved it! I can't believe how big she looks in these pictures! She will be eight weeks old tomorrow, but oh my she looks so grown up here...

How cute is she!!! Needless to say, I went right home to get the seat we have just like this out of our attic! It is being washed and I am so excited to see her in it tomorrow!
