This week was a great one for Nicholas. He started attending Barnum Preschool two mornings a week for two and a half hours a day. He qualified for services based on testing he went through in December. We are happy he is going to have this experience and get support in speech and physical therapy while he is there. His language is amazing and has come so far since December. He will be right on target with his age level the summer. As far as his gross motor skills, he has a little work to do. He simply has a developmental delay which means that his weakness is because of his lack of development while he was an infant in Russia and that in time he will be all caught up in this area as well. His teacher's name is Ms. Quinn and she seems very, very nice. Nicholas had a great first two days and seemed to like it very much. Here are a couple of photos of our little baby on his first day of preschool.
How cute is the backpack!!!!
Daddy and Mommy both brought Nicholas on his first day...
On Thursday he came home with his very first school library book!! We have already read it about five times!! This Thursday he will be going on his first field trip to the Taunton Public Library. Aunt Carol is going as a chaperon!!!
Lastly, today we went to the Taunton Animal Shelter to drop off all of the donations that Nicholas received at his birthday party last weekend. It was a Clifford themed party and we asked family to bring donations in lieu of gifts as Nicholas already has so much! We had such a wonderful time at the shelter and Nicholas loved seeing all of the cats and dogs. We really think he enjoyed it and understood that what he was doing was very helpful to the animals. We are so thrilled that he was so receptive to the idea of giving to needy animals. He is such a special boy!!
