Well, this weekend we ventured to Belmont, MA for a festival that was geared around Eastern European Culture. The event was put on by our adoption agency. We had a good time but truthfully it wasn't what we expected. They had a dance school perform traditional Russian dances and they were great. The dancers happen to mostly be of Russian heritage themselves. In addition, there were "Russian crafts for the kids" which consisted of simple materials to make a little hat. There were coloring sheets and crayons available for the kids to use and some of the papers did have a Russian connection. Although it didn't seem worth the hour drive, we made the best of it! It was great to see 30 other families with children from Russia. Afterwards we went to lunch at Brigham's Ice Cream Shop and met a really nice family with a 2 year old boy who was adopted from Russia in March. It was nice chatting with them and seeing the similarities between our children. Here are a couple pictures from yesterday...
