We have a COURT DATE!!!!!!!!

FRIDAY EVENING UPDATE...We are working on obtaining our visas and plane tickets this weekend. On Monday we will learn more about the last trip and make those arrangements as well. We are just so excited and will be celebrating as we work on travel plans!!!

This is what we know...and is now pretty well confirmed...

Wednesday, October 8th - Leave Boston
Thursday, October 9th - Arrive in Moscow and stay the night
Friday, October 10th - Medical Appt. in Russia
Saturday, October 11th - Visit Nicholas!
Sunday, October 12th - Free Day to explore Bryansk
Monday, October 13th - Court Hearing to become Nicholas' parents, officially!!
Tuesday, October 14th - Fly Home

(Interestingly, we will be in Bryansk along with a man from California adopting a 12 year old boy. He is naming his son Max! Our medical appointments are the same day and his court date is the day after us in Bryansk!)

On Monday we will find out the details about trip 2 (technically trip 3 counting our first in June). We will either be picking up Nicholas on Friday 10/24 or Monday 10/27...more information to come later...

Our Adoption Timeline for Nicholas

July 2005 - We decided to adopt a little girl from China and submitted our application to Wide Horizons For Children Adoption Agency.
July 2005 - February 2006 - We completed mountains of paperwork, collected a tremendous amount of documents, had a homestudy done by our social worker, and finally finished our dossier to be sent to China.
February 13, 2006 - Our Dossier went to China with the expected wait of about 8 months before we would be matched with our daughter.
March 28, 2006 - Our Log-in-Date in China - basically we are in the neverending line of potential adoptive parents waiting to be matched.
March 2006 - November 2007 - We wait, and wait, and wait but things get more and more backed up in China! There are many reasons blamed for the slowdown. In November an agency representative returns from a trip to China and informs our group that it will be at least another year before we are matched with our daughter.
December 1, 2007 - We decide to persue another adoption route in the meantime as we have always dreamed of three children and China will let us keep our place in line for now.
December 3, 2007 - We decide to adopt a little boy from Russia!!! We are so excited and begin working very hard collecting all of the documentation for a Russian Dossier.
February 1, 2008 - Our dossier is sent to Moscow, Russia. The timeline for a match with an infant boy is predicted to be between 0 and 4 months.
March 2008 - We learn our dossier is in the Bryansk Region of Russia.
June 2, 2008 - 4 months and 1 day - WE GET THE CALL!!! We have been matched with a little boy and we woill leave for Russia in 5 days!
June 7 - 11, 2008 Trip #1 to Russia!!! We met Nicholas and completed the paperwork to adopt him! What a wonderful 5 days!!! There are no words to describe the experience!
June 12, 2008 We are again waiting...it is expected we will get a phone call at the beginning of August informing us of our court date...so much to do...
August 3, 2008 We were given a very special baby shower hosted by family and friends!!! We are ready to bring him home!!!
September 26, 2008 We have a court date!!! It is October 13th and we are leaving on October 8th!
October 8 - 14, 2008 Trip #2!
October 10th Medical Appointments in Moscow
October 11th We got to visit with our baby!!!!
October 13th Cout Hearing - Delcared his legal parents
October 25 - November 1st Trip #3 The best trip of all!
October 27th Family Day! Nicholas is in our arms forever!
November 1st We are home...yeah!!

Our Second Baby - Adoption Timeline

April 2009 - We researched adoption agencies and programs and decided to adopt a baby from the United States and use Adoption Resources out of Waltham, MA as our agency.
May 2009 - Started the paperwork collecting and we were assigned a social worker...Carol S.
June 20, 2009 - Home visit and Scott's individual meeting with the social worker
June 25, 2009 - Tammi's individual meeting with the social worker
June 29, 2009- Finished designing the profile book of our lives together
July 24, 2009 - Officially approved as an adoptive home!
August 25, 2009 - We were shown a birthparent profile that greatly interested us and said we wanted to be considered. That night we spoke to the birthmother on the phone for 45 minutes!
August 26, 2009 - We are officially matched!! The birthmother is 10 weeks pregnant and due on March 22, 2010.
August 27,2009 - Committment paperwork
August 28, 2009 - The waiting begins...
August - March - We talk to the birthmom monthly on the phone and keep up to date with the baby's development. What day will Sarah Kate be born?
