Here are some updates on the children....
Miss Sarah Kate - On Tuesday her two bottom teeth popped through the gums. These are her first teeth. It is hard to see them because if you touch her bottom lip her tongue immediately pops out. Quite cute! Sarah Kate is eating well now. She seems to have adjusted to baby food. Her favorite foods are carrots, squash, apples, and bananas. She is starting to eat Gerber puffs which are small and she impresses us with her fine motor skills as she is able to get one out of every seven/eight into her mouth. Sarah Kate is sitting up strong and gets around the floor very quickly on her hands and legs, no knees yet. The only problem is that she can only go backwards. That is a start! Sarah Kate's two favorite things are watching Nicholas and fuzzy blankets. Today Sarah Kate and I took our first "girls only" shopping trip to a Toys R'Us to get her a new high chair that I had ordered online. We found some great Christmas presents for her and and her brother and even a "1st Thanksgiving" outfit too. I'm sure it will be the first of many like that, we spent much more than we planned!!
Mr. Nicholas - He is simply amazing! He is reading like crazy. At night he reads at least one of the three books before bed. This is in addition to the many he reads throughout the day. The cutest thing was when this morning he was sitting on Sarah Kate's floor with her reading her a book. He was holding it toward her so she could see the pictures and everything. It was priceless! His vocabulary and his love of language and learning are impressive. Lately he loves to write and type. He spells all the months of the year and days of the week correctly and in order. This week his preschool has a parent visitation day and I was able to sit and watch his class in action. Nicholas had the job of weatherman and he made all the parents giggle with his weather report of rainy and windy. He put the words up and dressed the little weather bear perfectly. So cute!! His teacher commented on his love of learning too. She did say that Nicholas needs to work on communication skills such as acknowledging when someone is talking to him even if he is busy with a toy or activity. It was a quick conversation with the teacher, and we are working on this a great deal at home, I just hope it is a typical issue for the age. Also, Mr. Nicholas went for some x-rays of his legs this week. We felt bad that he was frightened but hopefully next time he will do better. Nicholas has a leg length discrepancy which leads to weakness and balance issues as well as an awkward gait. We have an appointment at Children's Hospital in Boston on December 8th to hopefully guide us to some answers/treatment. Overall, Nicholas is simply amazing and we love his just like his baby sister does!
The only photo this week was taken Saturday night at the mall. We rented one of the strollers for $4 as a treat for Nicholas. He loved driving around the mall. He thinks these strollers are wonderful and I don't think he will fit in them much longer so we need to enjoy it now. This was Sarah Kate's first trip ever in the mall stroller and she thought it was fabulous!! She smiled and giggled the whole way. It was precious...almost as precious as Scott's face when I pulled out the camera in the middle of a store to take his picture!! He..he...
