Scott's Vacation,Honoring Veterans,and Baby #2

Nicholas had a great week this week because his dad was on vacation from work! On Monday Scott took Nicholas to Boston and they went to the Aquarium and Faneuil Hall. They had a blast and Nicholas even came home with a shark stuffed animal...Scott is the best dad ever!! Here is Nicholas watching the penguins having their lunch.

Nicholas' first time at Faneuil Hall!!

On Saturday our family was joined by many of our friends and family members in a volunteer effort to place flags on the graves of U.S. Veterans in honor of Memorial Day. This is something we do every year and it was extra special having Nicholas join us for the first time. He loved running around and pointing at all the flags. I think these photos are simply beautiful! My dad, a deceased Vietnam Veteran, would be proud!

Lastly, we have made the official decision to adopt again. This time we are going to try to adopt an infant from the United States. We sent in the initial paperwork this week and we will be beginning the home study process very soon. We went with a different agency as we were impressed with their domestic program. We will be assigned a social worker within the next week, have a few meetings with him or her, attend a parenting class, and complete a bit more paperwork. We are also working hard to put together an adoption profile which is basically a scrapbook of our lives. This book will be shown to birth parents that are looking for an adoptive couple. After we submit all the paperwork and the book, we will simply wait until we are chosen by a birth mother. This could take weeks or years. Also, typically an adoptive family is selected during the 6th month of pregnancy and the birth mother has until a couple of weeks after the birth to change their mind. Therefore, this could very well be a long and bumpy road to our second child. We will keep you updated on the website as we proceed through the process. We simply pray that God will lead us to the baby we were meant to parent and give us all the strength to get through the process, especially the birth mother who will be making a very courageous decision. It will take until about the end of June before we finish all of the paperwork. We'll let you know when we are officially a "waiting family."
